Milk - Reviews
"Milk utilise the use of distortion, feedback and delay to infuse tracks like 'Brighton Beach' and 'The Dead Sea Blues' with suffocating solemnity....there's no doubting this band's musical chops". ROCK SOUND (8/10)
"This band will take you on an ambient and trippy escapade floating you around the ether with the cuddly blanket of soft clouds...One listen to this EP and I don’t so much as think that I chose to review this, than somehow it chose me...This is a nice EP that brings you a thinking man’s music into you home and transforms your mundane life into a spiritual haven. It’s not something that you can put your finger on. It’s something that you cannot teach; you either have it or you don’t, and Milk certainly have it." ROOM THIRTEEN (12/13)
"Pigeon-holing bands is getting harder and bands like Milk are not making that job any easier...What I do know is that Milk construct abstract walls of sound into crescendos, but what sets them apart is the voice of Claire Robbin that transcends and glows above the noise. Somehow the noise doesnt distract, but instead assaults your senses and opens you up to the vocal melodies." THE BLUE WALRUS
"Opener 'Brighton Beach' has a great electronic underbelly and eastern influenced lines...The vocal aspect of the band is the difference. It just adds the depth most bands of a similar standing miss out on." THE 405
Milk - About the Band...
Making music in London, UK, Milk layer walls of feedback and delayed guitars over computerised granular noise, pounding bass and drums. Mixing the melodic with the chaotic, the band draw from shoegaze,
post rock and ambient electronica to create a distinctive texture cut through with doubled androgynous vocals.
The band is Claire Robbin (Guitar, Vocals), Adam Stark (Guitar, Vocals), James Whyard (Bass) and James Pritchard (Drums). After a number of recording sessions in early to mid 2009, the band released
their 4-track self-titled EP. Over the summer of 2010 the band put together their second EP, 'Oubliette' which will have a physical release of October 4th 2010 and is available for FREE digital download now.
